Local Couple Has Big Plans for Pickleball in San Antonio

San Antonio has caught the pickleball fever that’s swept the U.S. in recent years, marked by retired Spurs players Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker taking up the sport. Local couple Karen and Brian Birdy are seeking to capitalize on the trend by opening up to 20 pickleball facilities in the region over the next decade, including locations in SanAntonio and surrounding towns such as New Braunfels and Seguin. They’ve signed up with the East Coast pickleball club Dill Dinkers to be a regional developer for the franchiser. Having met while serving in the U.S. Air Force, the couple works at Birdy Properties, a local company that manages residential and vacation properties. They grew interested in pickleball after trying it during the COVID-19 pandemic
